I woke up at 6 AM, after sleeping for 4 hours. I struggled to wake up with this little sleep, and almost fell back asleep.
I got to the train station just a little too late - like by 2 minutes. I went to the platform that would usually be where train comes, but there was almost nobody there at that point. I called my dad and we figured out our positions.
I met my parents for the first time in around 9 months. Last time I saw them, was around 3 weeks after I left Ukraine. A lot has changed since.
We took a tram back home and brought the heavy suitcase. They successfully █████████████ home-made cherry wine, which I was happy about. And brought the box of treasure with Reeva instant mashed potatoes. Finally, some actually good instant mashed potato…
We chilled for some time. I wanted to sleep some more, but failed to do so. We went to the supermarket afterwards, and we bought so much food… I haven’t brought home this much food ever. We also bought more pillows and bedsheets and that kind of stuff for the futon.
We barely carried all these bags back home and once again had to rest for a while. Just when I was able to fall asleep, I got woken up 20 minutes later by a phone call. ██████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████
My mom made yummy meatball soup.
I got an email from repair service that cleaning didn’t fix it and they would need to find a spare motherboard and try fixing this one. The chance of success, as they told me would be around 60%. I thought about it for a while. Now that it’s been almost 3 weeks since the spillage, I start to feel like it’s not worth trying to salvage this one anymore. The whole point of unofficial route was that they could save the data, but at this point I’m starting to think that there isn’t that much data worth saving in the first place. I found Koneko manual articles, although the site itself would be lost. Sucks, but to be honest, it would only take like a day to recreate. I found pretty much all important documents I needed, and can’t really think of anything else that would be irreversably lost.
If I was to go with the frankenboard route, if it doesn’t work out, I’m definitely not getting it sent to Apple Care+ for sure… But since only ultrasound cleaning was done, I feel like there’s still a decent chance that it’ll be accepted. I’ve emailed them telling to reassemble it and that I’ll pick it up.
I’ve dealt with more thesis document stuff on the phone, and it’s all filled and good now.
We went for a walk once again, and I brought my parents to my favorite place in Prague - Petrin Hill.
We had some beers together at the top, and admired the views. It was fun, but I’m constantly reminded about my dad’s old age, and that he’s not taking care of himself. He started smoking again… Ugh…
We went to the mall after, and had a dinner. Bought some more home supplies, and super tired, got back home.
