We woke up in complete darkness. Our hotel room has a window that just points to the other wall, so there’s pretty much no view. We closed it for the night, which is why this happened.
We hurried to get out, as we wanted to visit pretty much the most touristy place in Kyoto. We were out walking at 7:30 AM.
As we walked to Kiyomizu, there was almost no people walking around us. I’ve learnt a while ago to not judge the actual amount of people at destination by the liminal spaces leading to it. The moment we got to the cool looking street, suddenly there was 10x more people around.
It wasn’t too bad yet. I was happy that we got out so early. We walked up further for the iconic place.
I feel like I’m forgetting to actually enjoy the places while walking around with camera. Everything becomes a quest for a good photo instead of just enjoying the places.

We went a bit offroad and ended up in a beautiful cemetery. There was nobody around.

We walked through Sanneizaka and Ninnenzaka on the way home. They were full of people, of course. All places got pretty much packed very quickly, after we went past through them.

We got home and just rested for entire day. Still so tired. I had a nap.
We went to a Tempura omakase place. It was just a few young dudes working there, which was kinda amusing. They asked us where we even found them, and put a bit of a show for certain dishes. It was funny how they put salmon roe worth entire eastern european country GDP on dishes like it was nothing. It’s crazy how cheap food stuff is here.
We went through the Pontocho alley afterwards, which was super cozy and beautiful. I really love such lil alleys. We walked into even smaller alleys, which were even more interesting than the main one.
We leave Kyoto tomorrow already… Way too little time here… Never making same mistakes again in future trips.
