Got picked up by parents in anticipation of Easter. We went in the restaurant first and ate yummy food.
I brought up classical Ukrainian music that I often listen to, and played some songs and it was nice that they both knew them well enough to actually sing along. Both parents got visibly sad when I played a song about mother (Пісня про Рушник and Чорнобривці), and mom actually cried a little so I stopped playing. It was a nice interaction, since I really have almost nothing common with my parents.
We then went to a park and met a sad lonely cat in a kinda obscure place. They look so similar to our cat…
We then went to supermarket and just shopped for whatever stuff. Then got home and we prepared the Easter basket.
Tonight we will go to church to make the food in basket "holy". It happens around 4 AM, and I wanted to sleep early, but I’m wearing daily contact lenses with no replacement with myself so I can’t sleep in them. So I’ll just stay awake all night.
After a while, at 4 AM parents started to wake up and prepare. As planned, I did not sleep.
We then drove to the church. The moon was low on the horizon.
There was already a lot of people around the church. If you don’t know the orthodox ceremony, people go to the church with baskets of food, and then they and the food gets sprinkled with holy water.
It’s always really beautiful to see all the candles. I really wish they didn’t turn on the bright lights on the church, it would be much more special that way.
The bell tolled, and eventually, after a while, the priest got to our place and put the water on us. We stood for some time and then left the churches yard. I’ve decided to take a walk home instead of using the car.
The 2 powerlines, it’s my favorite place in the world. I really wanted to go there for the first time during such early morning, but had to go home since my parents waited for me. We then ate all the holy food and I finally went to sleep.
